Bob's Taco Station - Rosenburg, TX

Today was my birthday and what better way to celebrate then by visiting a DDD restaurant? We went to Bob's Taco Station out in Rosenburg, TX. We arrived at 6pm on Saturday evening. The oddest thing about this restaurant is that they close at 8pm on a Saturday night! So if you find yourself hungry and bored after 8pm on a Saturday night (which I think is most of the population) then you'll have to find another restaurant.

Being that Easter Sunday is tomorrow the Snowball stand had closed at 3pm. Seriously? I just drove all the way out to this restaurant and they closed the stand the day before a holiday because, why now? It was a HOT day. However, John told the manager today was my birthday and asked sweetly in his charming way if they would please make me a snowball. They did. They went to the back and made me a snowball. It was pretty good. I'll have to go back to get a snowball from them again one day when they are actually open.

Okay, so anyway, the food. The tamales were great! HUGE and worth the money ($1 each roughly). The tortillas I could take home and eat forever. The tacos were just okay for me. Maybe I just didn't see a regular beef taco with lettuce, tomato and cheese on the menu. They had fillings like cow tongue...yeah, no...

Atmosphere was similar to Berryhill's. A laid back place for sure.   Service was okay.

Price was the best we've seen since Harold's. The tacos were all less than $3. Love that! Overall, I would recommend you come here and try the tamales and try the snowballs if they happen to be open.

Chef Point Cafe - Watauga, TX

Today while visiting friends in Fort Worth we decided to take in the Chef Point Cafe (http://www.chefpointcafe.org/) which is actually located inside of a Conoco Station around pretty much nothing else.

Price: We couldn't order anything that was featured on DDD because they were all too expensive (over $15), except for the bread pudding. We'll get to that in a second. This is Saturday at noon we are talking about, not 8pm on Saturday.

Atmosphere: This place was pretty packed and I think it is because of it's popularity with Food Network shows. It was what you would expect. Loud, kids crying, etc.

Service: Service wasn't too good here. We waited about 10 minutes before some girl walked up to our table and said "have y'all been helped?" Um, no. Overall they were very slow and not very nice either.

Food: John got a burger and I got a Monte Cristo sandwich. They were honestly just average. I think probably worth less than the $10 each we spent on them. The bread pudding was good but I had never had bread pudding before so can't really compare it to anything.

Overall: I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are too many actually good restaurants out there to waste your time on this mediocre place.

Schooner or Later - Long Beach, CA

On this day we went to Schooner or Later for brunch. We got there about 10:30 and we didn't get a table until 11:30. So the wait was very long. However, it was worth it. I got The Mess a which is eggs, ham, hash browns, and peppers topped with cheese. It was GREAT! John got an omelette he seemed to enjoy too. Our friend, Ryan also got The Mess. The atmosphere here was very laid back. It was moderately loud but we could still all hear each other. It got considerably less crowded after 12pm. Guess we shouldn't have gone so early!

Blue Water Seafood - San Diego, CA

What a great day! Today we went to the San Diego Zoo and afterwards we decided to check out a DDD place. We picked Blue Water Seafood for it's easy access to the freeway and it was on our way out.

I can honestly say that everything was very FRESH here. John and I got 4 different fish tacos. I got the blackened Hawaiian Wahoo and a chipolte Swordfish. John got a lemon butter Yellowtail and blackened Mahi Mahi. I have to say they were all very good. I enjoyed the Wahoo the best.

John also got the Cippino. It was really good too. I'd say that so far this was the best food I've gotten at a DDD restaurant. I wish I lived in San Diego so I could go there more....

Cafe Pita+ - Houston, TX

Tonight we went to Cafe Pita+.   This is by far the most authentic place we have been to so far.  The food was very good.  Although I don't think John liked the humus.

Niko Niko's - Houston, TX

On this night we decided to have a little fun with my sister and her boyfriend.  We went to Niko Niko's for dinner.  John got the Gyro plate and I got the Souzoukakia (Greek meatballs).  We also got the Loukoumades that is featured on the show.  They are Greek honey balls and they were really good.  All the food there was good.

Here are some pictures of our time at Niko Niko's (http://nikonikos.com/):
